Lectures using audiovisual presentations, working on scientific research projects, laboratory exercises, seminar work.
Utilization of modern methods for the calculation of stress and strain and analytical procedures for pavement design, taking into account the fundamental mechanical properties of the used materials.
The students will be able to apply modern analytical methods for pavement design.
Calculation of stress and strain in the pavement. Multi-layer elastic systems. The method of equivalent thickness. The Finite Element Method. Viscoelastic systems. Design of flexible and rigid pavements. New AASHTO MEPDG for analytical pavement design. Analysis of traffic load spectra. Material properties applied to the design process. Models of the development of damage. Methods evaluation and rehabilitation design of old pavements.
