Departments are basic academic and scientific units of a faculty. These units are established in the function of with the purpose of teaching and scientific work for one or more related fields of science. Departments conduct their activities in all types and levels of study. Their task is to coordinate instructional and research work within a scientific field. Arrangement of subjects at departments is determined by the Faculty Council.
Members of departments are teachers, assistants and researchers in scientific vocation who are employed at a Faculty and conduct instruction and research work in the same or similar fields of science. Head of department represents and manages department work and is elected for a period of three years. Departments perform tasks from their scope on sessions.
