Aim

The course focuses on cause and effects of water pollution and water quality degradation from a range of sources. 

Outcome

To extend student’s knowledge of water quality concepts and issues, trends in water quality remediation, and wastewater management practices; to provide a critical problem-solving approach for application to pollution situations.

Contents

The course focuses on cause and effects of water pollution and water quality degradation from a range of sources. Topics include; key chemical and biological processes, pollution control strategies, wastewater treatment, industrial and hazardous wastewater management, and salient features of the design of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Selected case studies are used to reinforce key concepts and issues.
