Getting acquainted with characteristics of the problems of the stability of plates

Outcome

Mastering the procedures for the analysis of the stability of plates and plate girders

Contents

General about the problem of the stability of plates. Differential equation of the plates. Theory of the elastic stabilty. Application of different methods for the determination of the elastic critical loads. Consideration of the different load cases and different boundary conditions. The energy methods. Numerical methods. Plates without stiffeners. Plates with stiffeners. Finite elements method.

 

Buckling in plastic region. Postcritical behaviour of the plates. Application of the theory of the large deformations. Methods for the consideration of the postcritical behaviour. Ultimate strength of the plates. Plate girders. Applications in the Structural codes of the practise.
