Aim

Introduction to the principles and methods of analysis processes and practices for wastewater treatment using laboratory and pilot tests and mathematical modeling.

Outcome

Student competence in independent research in the field of wastewater treatment.

Contents

Unit operations in wastewater treatment: physical (mixing, sedimentation, flotation, gas  transfer), chemical (chemical precipitation, disinfection), biological (aerobic processes, anaerobic processes, biological nutrient removal). Laboratory research and pilot modeling. Mathematical modeling of treatment processes: model setup, calibration and verification.
