On June 9, the international Bechtel–ENKA University Innovation Challenge 2026 was held, showcasing innovative student ideas and solutions.
Students from three universities participated in the competition: Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, the State University of Novi Pazar, and the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Civil Engineering. One of the two winning teams consisted of first-year Master's students from the Civil Engineering Geotechnics study module at our Faculty: Zorka Lazarević, Jasmina Batrnjin, and Matija Mihajlović.
Within the Geotechnical Stability and Slope Protection category, the team presented a solution entitled “Rapid LiDAR Slope Monitoring”, named “GeoRay” – an intelligent system for early warning and continuous monitoring of slope stability using LiDAR technology.
The members of the winning team were awarded a six-month paid internship and the opportunity to further develop their proposed solution, while all other participants received commemorative gifts.
We congratulate Zorka, Jasmina, and Matija on this outstanding achievement and their significant contribution to promoting the reputation of our Faculty. We wish them every success in their future work and in the further development of their innovative idea.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Bechtel and ENKA for organizing and supporting this exceptional event. We hope that the Bechtel–ENKA University Innovation Challenge will grow into a lasting tradition, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence among students.
