Our colleague, asst. prof. dr. Uroš Đurić, delivered a guest lecture on June 24, 2025, at Uppsala University, Sweden, as part of the Geophysics Program within the Department of Earth Sciences (internal seminar).
The lecture, titled "From Field Data to Risk Maps: An Introduction to Quantitative Landslide Risk Assessment," was attended by 15 researchers, professors, and PhD students.
This was one of the rare internally organized geotechnical-oriented seminars within the Geophysics Program at the Department, giving it special significance in fostering interdisciplinary connections—particularly in the context of landslide risk research in so-called “quick clay” formations, which represent a significant geohazard in Sweden.
In addition to the lecture, a meeting was held with representatives of Uppsala University’s “Smart Exploration Research Center”, during which potential opportunities for collaboration and joint participation in scientific projects were discussed.
The host and organizer of the lecture was Dr. Magdalena Marković Juhlin, asst. prof. of Applied Geophysics and Innovation Coordinator at the aforementioned center.
On Thursday, June, 12, 2025. at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, Danilo Joksimović, MSc Geodesy, defended his PhD thesis:
„MODELING SYNTHETIC COEFFICIENTS OF SPHERICAL HARMONIC EXPANSION OF THE EARTH'S GRAVITATIONAL POTENTIAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING THE GEOID IN A LOCAL AREA“
Mentor: prof. dr Oleg Odalović
The members of the Commission were: Full professor Dragan Blagojević, Assistant professor Sanja Grekulović, Full professor Vladimir Bulatović (University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences).
Congratulations!
Our colleague, Asst. Prof. Dr. Marko Marinković, delivered a lecture by invitation on May 21, 2025, at the prestigious Stanford University in the United States. The lecture focused on experiences and insights gained in the field in Albania (2019), Croatia (2020), and Turkey (2023) following devastating earthquakes, which can be useful to students and civil engineers. Additionally, Asst. Prof. Marinković provided an overview of the research projects of our Faculty in which he participates. A detailed description of the lecture can be found at the following link.
On Thursday, Aprile, 10, 2025. at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, Uroš Mirković, MSc Civil Engineering, defended his PhD thesis:
THERMAL-STRESS ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE GRAVITY DAMS
WHICH ARE BUILT IN BLOCKS
Mentor: prof. dr Vladan Kuzmanović
The members of the Commission were: Full professor Ljubodrag Savić, Associate professor Miroslav Marjanović, Full professor Miroslav Živković (University of Kragujevac, Faculty of Engineering).
Congratulations!
As part of the Horizon Circ-Boost project, in which the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade is a key partner, the first in a series of webinars dedicated to circular construction will be held. Experts from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Penta Ge.Co. Construction, and Beam Europe, along with representatives from the Serbia Green Building Council, will share their insights on innovative construction solutions, technical challenges, and the importance of the circular economy for the construction sector. Special focus will be placed on the application of recycled aggregates, fly ash, reused steel, and recycled bricks in modern construction practices. Participants of the Circ-Boost project will present the progress and challenges within Pilot 3, which aims to develop, test and demonstrate circular solutions in construction through the creation of a modular and demountable single-story building. The webinar will be held on April 3, 2025, at 11:00. Registration link.
The Laboratory of Metrology has been actively participating in the international EPN (EUREF Permanent Network) Densification project for three years. As of February 26, 2025, its participation has been published on the official EPND website.
On Wednesday, February, 19, 2025. at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, Marko Stanković, BSc Geodesy, defended his PhD thesis:
DETERMINATION OF QUASIGEOID USING MODELED ANOMALY
POTENTIAL FUNCTIONAL VALUES
The members of the Commission were: Full professor Dragan Blagojević, Assistant professor Sanja Grekulović, Full professor Vladimir Bulatović, (University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences).
Congratulations!
The Faculty of Civil Engineering informs the public that in January 2025, the prestigious international accreditation of the undergraduate and master's studies of the Civil Engineering study program was obtained by the German company ASIIN (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik eV) In this way, the undergraduate and master's study programs of Civil Engineering at our faculty become the only programs in the field of civil engineering in Serbia, and one of the few in the Western Balkans region, that have ASIIN accreditation and the prestigious EUR-ACE® quality certificate.
